Last month we talked about a cool new video channel that we’ve set up to allow your customers to easily view your TV commercials, as well as selected ALA lighting videos and other pertinent information from your favorite lighting manufacturers.

1. Next time one of those local TV stations calls asking if you would like to purchase a 2 minute segment for $400 – take them up on it! The real value of the segment happens when you stream it to the tens of thousands of potential customers who are coming to your site year in and year out. Click here to see video player.

2. Create your own tab page. But don’t spend money on printing and mailing. This summer, create a tab page of fan specials on your website. Then run eblasts and ads letting people know it’s there. You can even offer a special internet savings on the tab page. Customers print it out and bring it into your store.

ALA $5000 Lighting Sweepstakes3. Is ALA is working for you? ALA is working for you if you are an ALA member who supports the Bi-National Advertising Program. It means you are entitled to put the $5,000 Home Lighting Makeover Contest on your website. You should also be receiving an Entry Box, Entry Forms and a stock of Simply Lighting Magazine from ALA and Better Homes and Gardens. The names on the entry forms are a good source for emails. Before you send them off to ALA at the end of September, put them in an Excel File. We can help you set up a bulk mailing system with Constant Contact or some other reputable bulk emailing company.

The writing was on the wall for this event. Shoppers are fed up with business-as-usual politics and the new increases in government spending. When April 15th came around, most of our showrooms reported great results from a “We Pay the Tax” sale. This program gave consumers a discount of their local sales tax percentage (anywhere from 5% to 7%). Seems that consumers would rather put one over on Washington than save a much higher percentage on a purchase.
